Pakistan Prime Minister Khan hosted World Tourism Forum Institute delegation

Pakistan will host the Annual Meeting in 2021. Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan hosted Forum President Bulut Bağcı and his accompanying delegation.

The London-based World Tourism Forum Institute (WTFI) delegation held several meetings in Islamabad, the host city of Pakistan. WTFI delegation headed by WTFI President Bulut Bağcı was hosted by Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan. During the meeting; Syed Zulfikar Abbas Bukhari, President of Pakistan Tourism Development Agency (PTDC), Barış Kahrıman, WTF Board Member, and Sumaira Isaacs, WTF Enlargement Advisory Committee were in presence.

Prime Minister Khan said during the meeting that his government has made every effort to promote tourism in the country. Noting that the former governments did not use the real potential of the country’s tourism regions, Khan also gave information about tourism investments in the country.

During the meeting, it was decided that the Annual Meeting 2021 will be held in Pakistan with the participation of over 2,500 foreign sector representatives and will last for 5 days.

Khan, who informed the delegation about Pakistan’s tourism activities, stated that they are working to reveal the real tourism potential of the country.

Khan, who stated that they will establish eight new tourism centers in the Oman Sea coast of Balochistan province, recalled they got in the electronic visa period with 175 countries starting from Turkey, China, Malaysia and the UK.

Following the steps taken especially in security, investment and visa issues, the number of foreign tourists coming to Pakistan has increased more than 4 times in the last four years. The number of foreign tourists coming to the country in 2015 was announced as 563 thousand, this number increased to 2 million in 2017 and over 2 million last year.

Bağcı: We are trying to improve tourism worldwide

WTFI  President Bagci also gave information about the forum. Speaking about the participation of WTFI in tourism, Bagci stressed that they are trying to improve tourism worldwide through annual forums.

Pakistan is on its way to becoming a new global tourism player. Earlier this year, Prime Minister Khan announced a new visa policy with 175 countries to promote tourism and investments. Tourists from these countries can apply for an online visa. According to the new visa policy e-visa will be provided to five countries, originally to Turkey, China, Malaysia, United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates.

Annual Meeting 2021

GTF Annual Meeting 2021 will be held in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. The meeting will host over 2,500 participants. The previous GTF programs hosted former French President François Hollande, former European Commission President José Manuel Barroso and Facebook co-founder Randi Zuckerberg. In Annual Meeting 2021, well-known figures from the world of politics and tourism, such as former British Prime Minister Theresa May will be hosted.
